Polyon is a new controlled release fertilizer (CRF), manufactured by Pursell Technologies, USA, featuring a unique Reactive Layer Coating for true controlled release under a wide range of environmental conditions.
Polyon’s strong Reactive Layer Coating is highly resistant to fractures caused by high temperatures, mechanical damage and freezing. The coating is precisely applied to provide predictable and reliable nutrient release from each granule with an unparalleled level of crop safety, even under extreme growing conditions.
Nutrient release from Polyon is brought about by osmosis. The rate of release is governed by temperature alone and is not influenced by factors such as media type, moisture levels, pH or microbial activity. As the temperature rises, the release of nutrients is increased; the exact release rate being governed by the thickness of coating. Polyon formulations are available to provide controlled nutrient release from 4-18 months under UK conditions.

In addition, various coated straight fertilizer products (Urea, Potassium Nitrate and Mono-Ammonium Phosphate) are available with different longevities. By blending coated NPK’s and straight fertilizers in different proportions, HortiFeeds can formulate a Polyon Blend to meet virtually any desired analysis and release pattern.
Polyon controlled release fertilizers can be supplied either with or without trace elements by incorporation of our specially formulated TE Booster mix, manufactured by Pursell Technologies patented ‘Granusol’ process.

Currently, we have blends specifically formulated for the following containerised crops: Bedding Plants, Hanging Baskets, Pot Plants, Herbaceous Perennials, Shrubs, Grasses, Conifers, Ericaceous. We have also formulated various Field Blends for soil grown crops. (Please refer to the Polyon Brochure for further information on these and all other Polyon products).
Polyon is packed in easy to handle 25kg polyethylene sacks.
