The newest addition to the Hortifeeds range of products for fruit growers is Hortiphos, a concentrated liquid formulation of calcium and phosphorus. Hortiphos contains the highest level of calcium for any liquid in its class, yet is still balanced with the phosphorus content and maintains the calcium to phosphorus ratio.

Hortiphos has been created to address the problem of delicate skin on fruit grown under tunnels. As the tunnels protect the plants from inclement weather, the skin is not naturally hardened. Applying Hortiphos adds calcium and phosphorus to produce a harder skin. Tougher skins mean less damage in harvesting and transportation, which means higher returns for the grower.



Hortiphos not only increases storage potential in top fruit, but also improves the firmness and skin finish of soft fruit, increases the shelf life of soft fruit, reduces cold storage breakdown, reduces bitterness, increases fruit size, improves colour in top fruit, and even helps protect against botrytis.
